PURPOSE
The position is responsible for the effective utilization of switching and automation equipment to meet the requirement of KE’s distribution network and optimize the proposed technical solutions of vendor by reducing the bill of quantity to make the solution economically viable for KE. Develop/Evaluate the multiple vendors of switching and automation devices to improve the supply chain process and make the costing of equipment in line with market dynamics. Supervise the Type tests, Factory Assessment Tests (FAT), field tests, and inspections of switching and automation devices to ensure its effective operation and compatibility with KE field infrastructure. Oversee the installation and configuration of switching and automation devices, that comes against the educational order, to minimize the downtime of the network and enhance the efficiency of operations. Conduct on-site and in-house training sessions and review the training material to enhance the technical skillset of users. Review specifications, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and inspection sheets for installation and maintenance of field equipment related to switchgear stream.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education & Relevant Experience: B.E Electrical and Electronics with minimum 05+ years of experience.
Knowledge Skills
Sound knowledge of Electric Utility domain of work
Sound knowledge of Planning and commissioning of Switching devices (Switchgear, Ring Main Unit, Load Break Switch, MCCB & Contractor), Remote Terminal Units (RTUs), Relays and accessories.
Extensive knowledge of designing of automation solution for HT distribution network
Hands-on experience of testing and troubleshooting of switching devices
Strong knowledge of preventive and corrective maintenance methods
knowledge of Supervisory control and Data Acquisition (SCADA)/Advance Distribution and Management System (ADMS)
Knowledge of relevant international standards ex. IEEE, IEC, ANSI etc.

1 Material Estimation 20%
Develop the bill of materials (BOM) for all the newly developed and existing SOPs (of switchgear and automation related equipment including Switchgear, Ring Main Units, Remote Terminal Units, Load Break Switches, Relays, Knife switches, HT/LT Breakers, HT/LT fuses, safety gadgets and accessories) by periodically reviewing the clause-by-clause detail to identify the complete material needs against each process. Submit the developed BOM to line manager for review and approval after the onboarding of relevant stakeholders (including Operations, CM & PM teams, material management, central quality control by incorporating their inputs/suggestions. Ensure the upload of the approved BOM on distribution standard portal for complete visibility along with the intimation of uploading of BOM to relevant stakeholders. This availability of BOM ensures the correct material utilization as per network requirement, prevents the over ordering of material for any project or activities.
2 People/Product Management 20%
Oversee the governance mechanism to track the health of installed switching and automation devices in collaboration with Operation and Smart Grid team.Ensure to run a claim mechanism timely in coordination with vendor and R&I to get the faulty devices back to network. Ensure the field survey to analyze the field situation and supervise the field testing wherever needed. Perform the Root-Cause-Analysis (RCA) in coordination with vendor to check the probable reasons of the fault and share the report with relevant stakeholdersCoordinate with internal and external stake holders for smooth planning and commissioning of newly developed switching and automation devices in the field.Equip KE field crews with the help of on-site and in-house trainings, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) documents for effective utilization of crews on field.
Review SOPs and develop inspection sheets for maintenance and installation of devices, if needed.
3 Testing and Inspection 20%
Coordinate with vendors to take an update on the switching and automation products that are under development process in order to ensure its timely completion. Supervise Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) at customer site to check whether the equipment is manufactured as per approved design and international standards. Supervise the inspection at KE Central Store upon delivery of items againsat educational order as per KE specification. Coordinate with vendor and R&I over noted observations/concerns of inspections and ensure its incorporation in the next delivery. Supervise field testing in case of problem occurs during the normal operation of switching and automation devices in coordination with R&I, TSW, PM and SSM
4 Research and Development 15%
Perform exploratory exercise of available vendors of market. Evaluate vendor capabilities based on quality, facility, capacity, and process sustainability. Perform technical evaluation of product by taking relevant stakeholders onboard. Ensure the timely placement of an educational order in coordination with procurement. Develop sample which in accordance with KE specifications and international standards. Arrange/conduct trainings for users in coordination with vendor and DNA/LNOD. Conduct field trails and evaluate its performance on field in coordination with Operation. Review the specification of products based on its compatibility with the KE field Infrastructure
5 Innovation 15%
Perform requirement gathering exercise for selection of switching & automation devices from internal stake holders (including Smart Grid, Network Planning and Operation). Identify business use cases to address the problem statement. Perform exploratory exercise of available switching & automation solution of market leaders. Lead team in conducting meetings and clarification calls to assess the product capabilities. Conduct hardware product demos and software functionality review to compare/score market available solutions. Review/optimize the design solution and finalize specifications of field equipment which fulfills the KE business requirement
6 Cross-Function Team Projects 10%
Part of cross-functional team related to Innovation, Network designing and effective utilization of Assets projects as an ambassador of Network Engineering team in order to ensure the compliance of KE SOPs and make it in-line with international standards and global best practices.
