Purpose

Leads Electrical Department for safe, reliable, efficient, and quality oriented maintenance of plant equipment pertaining to the Electrical Section. Plans, schedules & executes maintenance activities (planned/unplanned), prepares budget, carries out procurement & arranges services to achieve the targets. Train and develops Electrical team and take care of Health, Safety and Environment requirements. These responsibilities are carried out WITH the objective to achieve targets of availability, reliability, efficiency and safety WITHIN the limits of established company policies and procedures, OEM guidelines, corporate objectives, directions/guidelines from higher management, HSE requirements, industry best practices and applicable regulatory/statutory framework.
 

Education (Mandatory)

BE in Electronics or Electrical.

Trainings & Certifications (Mandatory)

  • Possess knowledge associated with power plant operations especially regarding Combine Cycle Power Plant

  • Possess profound knowledge of Electrical Equipment including Transformer, MV/HV Switch gears, GIS, Protection relay, LV/HV systems, LV/MV Motor and Generator

  • Possess in depth knowledge of power plant processes, Hazards, planning, maintenance and energy management.

  • Knowledge of local industrial rules and regulations.

  • In depth knowledge of power purchases agreement, long-term services and supply contracts, and business commercial acumen.

  • Stake holders management, including services and supply contracts of strategic importance.

  • Must have proficiency with Computer knowledge such as Microsoft Office, Outlook, CMMS/SAP. 

Years of Experience

Experience of working in Combined Cycle Power Plant for minimum 4 to 5 years as AM or DM.

Area of Responsibilities

 

Administrative:

  • Assist DGM Electrical in administering the Electrical maintenance section in accordance with instructions and directives of the management, rules and regulations in practice.
  • Assist DGM Electrical for RIR recommendations and departmental KPIs.
  • Keep close liaison with Operation, Performance & maintenance Departments to achieve targets.
  • Maintains punctuality, discipline and confidence among the team members and ensure observance of the management rules. 
  • Conducts employee performance reviews based on their overall performance, assigned responsibilities and contribution / value addition to the plant.
  • Ensures effective Leave management, overtime management and transport arrangement & deputation of staff in odd hours.
  • Ensures implementation of Job qualification criteria.

 



Health Safety Environment & Quality 

  • Direct, maintain and enforce safety program for Electrical maintenance section; ensure implementation of standards for maximum safety of staff.
  • Ensure cleanliness of all indoor and outdoor work areas. Maintain safety, health, quality and environmental policies and procedures
  • Complying with all corporate policies, administrative orders and OHSE rules while carrying out maintenance functions and sectional affairs.
  • Conducts Internal safety audits for improvement in safety.
  • Ensures General safety and quality of risk assessment related to different jobs.
  • Identifies and fills gaps for safety improvements of departmental staff.
  • Ensure toolbox talk through audits
  • Arrange relevant training and authorization of team members on work permit system
  • Resolves and closes Internal/external audit observations
  • Perform management safety audits and submit timely.

 

 

Planning, Budgeting & Procurement

  • Budgeting for procurement of items & services and ensures effective consumption of budget.
  • Ensure the availability of spares, consumables & tools in inventory management system; raise, evaluate and chase procurement process for timely completion of maintenance projects and availability of consumables.
  • Raising warranty claims of defective parts.
  • Raises Imprest request for non-stock items and their timely settlement.   
  • Inspects delivery of procured items and ensures correct and healthy item is delivered.

Execution of maintenance activities

  • Plan, schedule maintenance activities (planned and unplanned) to meet performance targets, ensure maximum availability and reliability of equipment and systems in a safe manner.
  • Has to introduce improved and economic methods in maintenance.
  • Arrange timely testing, calibration or certification of Electrical equipment.
  • Ensure an updated version of maintenance procedures so that the maintenance can be accomplished in safe, timely & cost-effective   manner.
  • Communicates regularly with all team members, both individually and as a group, to ensure good two-way communication concerning maintenance issues.
  • Ensure that all maintenance tasks and procedures are updated as per OEM recommendations, site conditions and in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Manage and conduct periodic/scheduled overhauls, testing, calibration and required maintenance in accordance with the recommendations of the equipment manufacturers.
  • Prepare periodic reports, analyze data, and make recommendations for improvement in plant operations and solution of maintenance-related problems. 
  • Initiate and carry out projects that improve efficiency, reduce maintenance down time and/or operating costs. 
  • Perform any task assigned by the plant management pertaining to the functions of the power plant.       
  • Utilizes SAP PM Module up to full extent and identifies areas of improvement.
  • Ensures quality of PM/CM orders, open permits and their timely closure.

RCA, Troubleshooting

  • Provide engineering expertise in RCA, troubleshooting and resolution of persistent problems
  • Conducts brainstorming session for the staff regarding old faults.

Training & Development

  • Conducts TRAINING NEEDS ANALYSIS for engineers and ensures its timely implementation as per schedule
  • Extending support, guidance and training to subordinates for technical and administrative development and in achieving their annual objectives.
  • Implementation of Training plan for the newly hired staff.
  • Nominating & ensuring availability of staff for external training
  • Maintain and update operating and training manual for Electrical section.
