Purpose

The purpose of this position is to oversee the development and deployment of a comprehensive asset strategy that ensures long-term reliability, capacity adequacy, and future readiness of switchgear/transformer assets.

This role identifies performance gaps and insights through detailed analysis and audits, supports the development of streamlined and updated planning processes, and revises strategies to align with regulatory and organizational goals. The Lead oversees the effective integration of new technologies, reviews asset utilization, and drives innovation to enhance network resilience. Additionally, the role governs cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder engagement to ensure transparent decision-making and sustainable asset management practices

Education (Mandatory)

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering

Years of Experience

7+ years of experience in power distribution, or relevant industry experience of distribution transformer or MV switchgear maintenance/refurbishment

Area of Responsibilities

1    Strategic Asset Framework Development  

  • Define and standardize long-term technical strategies and structured asset class plans for Switchgears/Distribution Transformers to ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Govern development of maintenance and lifecycle strategies, ensuring alignment with asset health priorities and risk appetite and improve asset longevity and reliability.
  • Integrate technical planning outputs with network expansion and reliability improvement initiatives to ensure capacity adequacy and future readiness.

2    Regulatory & Governance Oversight

  • Interpret and embed regulatory and corporate policy requirements into technical asset management planning processes to ensure compliance.
  • Lead the preparation and technical oversight of compliance reports and regulatory submissions to ensure they meet rigorous technical and governance requirements
  • Govern the sanctity of asset management policies, procedures, and frameworks to ensure they remain current and aligned with best practices.

3    Asset Risk, Resilience & Performance  Management

  • Establish and enforce the framework for performance indicators, dashboards, and monitoring mechanisms to track asset reliability and planning outcomes .
  • Direct risk-based prioritization for asset renewal, replacement, and optimization initiatives based on technical criticality and impact analysis
  • Drive systemic risk reviews and asset health assessments to identify underperforming or high-risk assets and recommend corrective strategies.

4    System Leadership and Design Integration

  • Lead the strategic integration of planning tools (SAP PM, GIS, and analytics platforms) to strengthen asset visibility and maintenance accuracy.
  • Architect system requirements and guide enhancements for improved operational insight and reliability monitoring,

5    Strategic Resource & Plan Alignment

  • Coordinate with Operations and Maintenance teams to align regional tactical inspections with overarching departmental strategic objectives.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of resource deployment and utilization across regions to identify and resolve planning inefficiencies
  • Establish and support technical benchmarks to evaluate maintenance efficiency and lifecycle performance across the distribution network.

6    Stakeholder Governance & Capability Building

  • Lead strategic engagement with Operations, Engineering Team , HSEQD and relevant stakeholders to ensure cohesive strategy execution and technical problem-solving
  • Drive technical excellence within the planning team through targeted mentorship in risk management and asset performance management.
  • Strengthen the organizational consistency through high-level workshops and performance reviews, ensuring a unified approach to asset management strategy
