Job Purpose:
• To lead effective, timely and daily monitoring and reporting of KE, Power Sector and related news from print, electronic, hybrid and digital media space in order to keep leadership and management informed about external environment.
• Lead coordination with media (beat reporters), PR agency for relationship building activities (publication of press release, articles, rebuttals, photo release, LTEs, positive news)
• To work with PR team and agency partner during crisis management i.e. breakdowns, outages, rain emergency, heatwave with all implemented PR tools i.e. press releases, press conference, tickers. LTE, articles, plus coordination with distribution department for the same.
• After necessary internal clearance, ensure writing letters to media houses & other stakeholder who are found publishing inaccurate stories about KE, thereby damaging the company’s reputation.
• To liaise with FBA, C&A, Finance for processing of vendor payments, maintain financial records of media department.
• Media meet ups for sustainable relationships for positive sentiments.
• Planning, organizing, implementing of KE media department’s image/relationship building activities to foster goodwill and establish strong working relations with beat media and ensure effective implementation of plans as per advice of departmental heads.
• Driving response and letters submission to respective media house on negative and single side reporting.
• Work with team and support in keeping media reporting tool up to date and support in production of weekly, monthly and periodic data in line with agreed KPI
• Lead placement of advertisements and operational communication materials for Procurement, Finance, Corporate Affairs, Legal, IR, Distribution, Transmission departments, Advertising Agency in order to timely and effectively publishing of print ads in different newspapers as per need.
Job Responsibilities:
- Print Media Monitoring
- To ensure daily & timely effective monitoring of 20+ print media newspaper/magazines and ensure every news related to KE and the power sector is marked and shared with top management/relevant department for timely rebuttal/response.
- Drive accountability by analyses of media agencies reports to ensure each published item is reported.
- To develop media reports of news clippings on daily basis for top management.
- To prepare reports for analysis/decision making as per need of management or departmental heads.
- Print Media Monitoring
- To coordinate closely with all the relevant KE departments including FBA, C&A, Treasury for timely vendor payments, completion of required documentations, SAP recording and approvals as per Audit requirements.
- Sharing of media related complaints/media queries with relevant department including distribution, generation, transmission, PSCs etc. for timely feedback and response to media.
- Lead coordination with Treasury, Procurement, Transmission & Distribution for publication of print advertisements like Tender Notices, Shut down Notices, AGM Ads.
- Coordinate with Distribution for timely and effective handling of Media Complaints to ensure KE positive image building.
- Compilation of reports for the leadership visibility.
- Coordination with External stakeholders
- To build a positive image of the company with the media stakeholders by effectively using PR tools.
- Establish and leverage relationships with media houses and key media personnel to ensure that KE’s narrative is appropriately covered in print and electronic spaces
- Ensure power related issues of media houses/persons are taken care of for timely closure and their full satisfaction.
- Ensure that media agencies working with KE’s financials are paid and cleared timely.
- Record Management
- Maintain and monitor financial records of media departments.
- Maintain up to date record media reporting and coverage
Education & Relevant Experience:
Minimum Bachelor preferably Masters (Mass Communication, Management & Finance) with 5+ years of experience in Media Management.
