Deputy Manager Maintenance

Purpose

The position of Deputy Manager EHT Transmission Underground is responsible for assisting manager in monitoring smooth operation of system and making necessary arrangement for execution and implementation of fault maintenance activity, routine maintenance activity, projects and rehabilitation activity of cable routes of 220kV/132kV/66kV present in the city.  This position would align all possible outcomes incorporated with assisting manager with planning which includes budget utilization, procurement, drawing studies and ensuring of implementing complete safety practices against all departmental activities. The team of DM and AE staff would align all possible outcomes incorporated with all correspondences related to external agencies and execution which includes ensuring safety practices and strategic site planning within limits of organizational SOPs, policies, departmental objectives, departmental regulations and management directives. 

Education (Mandatory)

BE (Electrical). 

Knowledge Areas

• Having basic knowledge about Power Systems in general and KE-Power System in particular 

• Experience to manage network related issue like; maintenance and fault repair of Power cables, joints, terminations and other accessories.  

• Familiar with 220 /132 /66 kV UG OF and XLPE Power cables, joints, terminations, DTS and other accessories. Cable grounding/earthing bonding schemes. 

• Have complete knowledge of IEC standards and SOPs pertaining to EHT cables and accessories.  

• Awareness of strategic materials/spares evaluation and for the requirement of network reliability enhancement / fault rectification. 

• Knowhow of budget requirement including planning and utilization. 

• Be able to technically evaluate and scrutinize the technical offers for material and services by various vendors. 

• Understanding of confined space (i.e. Trench/Bunker) 

• Basic function & interconnection of GIS, AIS and Hybrid Grid systems with UG Cable Ckts. 

• Having basic knowledge of electrical systems and equipment. 

• Well verse of all related safety practices required for execution of any shutdown/fault maintenance activity. 

Years of Experience

3 years of overall technical experience to manage EHT UG Cable Network related issues.

Area of Responsibilities

NETWORK MAINTENANCE

• Assist to organize/manage maintenance of allocated route of EHT Underground Transmission Network to keep it in smooth and efficient condition. 
• Assist to manage cable route patrolling activity with AE in order to avoid any uninformed excavation presiding at allocated route which could damage EHT cable circuit furthermore conduct multiple correspondence activities with other agencies for planning execution of their work with respect to safety of EHT cable circuit present in the vicinity.  
• Supervision of necessary administrative arrangements initiated by Manager for fault rectification/network restorations in case of some persistent fault. This includes in-house fault repairing as well as outsourcing depending upon nature and extent of fault. 
• Assist to streamline arrangement of shutdown for CSE Cleaning of allocated EHT Cable Circuits on periodic basis. 
• To witness testing and commissioning of new projects that are being handed over to TMUG department and furthermore to execute rehabilitation testing to ensure healthiness of already existing EHT cable routes. 
• Initiate GIS mapping of EHT cable routes on google earth for efficient know-how regarding route rehabilitation activates that could be pertaining to EHT cable routes Trouble shooting & maintenance of DTS (Distributed Temperature sensing) system

PROJECTS (MAINTENANCE AND REHABILITATION)*Relevant to allocated Route

• Highlight regarding pertaining issues for rehabilitation of UG cables for effective functioning of the system. 
• Major Projects: Co-ordinate and conduct site visit with PID/TP 1000 for upcoming UG Cable projects and conduct visits with PID/TP-1000 to device strategy and cable route for protection of existing EHT cable circuits. Creation of punch list after completion of project.  
• Minor Projects:  Budget allocation, preparation of MR/SR/PR, carrying out RFQs, developing and reviewing Technical drawings and manuals (queries/clarifications) till PO placement and supervision of project execution and completion till asset capitalization. Visits with vendors for clarification of queries. 
• Co-ordinate with civil/works department regarding rehabilitation of trenches, bunkers, gantries and PLDPs. 

BUDGET AND PROCUREMENT

• Assist for preparation of budget and its utilization.  
• Assist for preparation of MRs& SRs, finalization of PRs/POs and TE (along with queries/clarifications) and procurement of material including strategic spares pertaining to allocated route. 
• Assist for material forecasting considering the previous trend and new requirements. 
• Planning of approved MRs/SRs and creation of services PRs on SAP. 
• Co-ordinate with BF Team, IM department for budget utilization.

STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT AND REPORTING*Relevant to allocated route 

• Correspondences (letters and emails)/communication/meetings with outside agencies for: 
•     ROW required for UG ckts. maintenance/fault rectification 
•     UG circuits protection during their excavation for infrastructure development by various agencies. 
• Depute relative AE at locations having critical excavations nearby or crossing EHT ckts. And supervise formulate strategy with outside agencies as well as with PID for safe crossings and performing of works. 
• Maintain route sheets and operation & maintenance manuals. 
• Assist Manager in preparing presentations required by higher management 

SAFETY & PEOPLE MANAGEMENT 

• Assist manager in people management/training of new inducted staff. 
• Assist for safety awareness/implementation of SOPs, Risk Assessment & Trainings. 
• Creation of SOPs, HIRA, conducting trainings, Safety parades and other relevant safety documents for ensuring implementation of safety practices in dept. 
• To conduct a successful safety audit for the department. 
• Serve as safety coordinator for TX-Network for handling efficient coordination with HSEQ  
• Maintaining safety discipline culture in the dept.  
• Carrying out safety audits on regular intervals to maintain and ensure operations are carried out as per SOPs and instructions.
