Job Purpose:

  • Accompany and facilitate third party consultants in field visits
  • Assist in Module Preparation and Co conduct Environmental Trainings
  • Assist in planning and conducting Environmental Audits
  • Maintain database of compliance related correspondence
  • Carry out any other assignment as specified by Manager (Environmental Compliance)

Area of Responsibility:

  1. Environmental Assessments (multiple sites)
  • Coordinate with Procurement for hiring of Consultants.
  • Facilitate BUs in raising PRs with Procurement/Business Finance.
  • Accompany ESIA/IEE consultant in site visits and consultations of new projects.
  • Provide data and coordinate for baselining and consultations.
  • Arrange meetings and prepare minutes.
  • Follow-up for data from internal departments.
  • Ensure timely payments of Consultants and Regulators Fee.
  • Ensure timely submission of reports with all relevant documents to regulators.
  • Publish notices in leading newspapers and letters to stakeholders for public hearings.
  • Arrange Public Hearings & Expert Committee Meetings and keep record.

 

  1. Environmental Compliance Monitoring (multiple sites)
  • Coordinate with Procurement for hiring of Consultants/Labs/independent monitors.
  • Facilitate BUs in raising PRs with Procurement/Business Finance.
  • Arrange coordination meetings and prepare minutes.
  • Accompany Independent Monitors during monthly visits to approved construction sites.
  • Regular inspection of all construction sites for EMP Compliance.
  • Accompany environmental lab during monitoring of power plants.
  • Prepare result summary.
  • Witness hazardous waste is disposed of through certified vendors.
  • Facilitate BUs during Regulator’s inspections/audits.
  • Ensure timely payments of Consultants Fee to avoid non-compliance.
  • Ensure timely delivery of reports to BUs and regulators as per requirement.
  • Draft responses for personal hearings and prepare presentations.

 

  1. Environmental Audits & Trainings
  • Co- conduct environmental field audits on an annual basis and provide necessary support to team.
  • Research new topics, develop training modules and deliver trainings, especially for field staff.

 

  1. Environmental Compliance Record

Maintain the record of:

  • ESIAs & IEEs (planning)
  • EMPs (construction)
  • EMRs (operation)
  • NOCs (SEPA & BEPA)
  • Legal Notices (SEPA & BEPA)
  • Minutes of Meetings, Public Hearings, Expert Committee Meetings, Personal Hearings.
  • Change Management Record.
  • ESDD & ESAPs

Education & Relevant Experience:

  • Bachelors/ Master's degree in Environmental Engineering/ Sciences (minimum 16 years of education)
  • 2-3 years relevant experience with knowledge in environmental legislation and compliance
  • Lead Auditor training in ISO 14001 preferred
  • Good communication and report writing skills
  • Advance computer skills including MS Project, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
