Deputy General Manager Lead Mechanical

Purpose

This position manages Mechanical Maintenance activities pertaining to Gas Turbines, Steam Turbines, HRSGs its associated BOP and work shop related services. These responsibilities are carried out with the objective to effectively and safely manage maintenance and troubleshooting activities to ensure the efficiency, availability and reliability of the plant within the limits of established company policies and procedures, allocated budget, corporate objectives & strategy, directions / guidelines from higher management, HSE guidelines, industry best practices and regulatory / statutory requirements.

Education

BE/BS in Mechanical engineering from HEC approved institution

Years of Experience

8-10 years’ experience working in mechanical maintenance section(s) of combined cycle power plant, out of which at least 3 years should be in managerial roles

Knowledge

• Must possess Knowledge & experience of power plant safety, maintenance and management.
• Possess knowledge of Company’s policies and procedures.
• Possess in depth theoretical Knowledge and hands on experience of Gas Turbines, Steam Turbines, HRSGs, and its associated BOPs.
• Knowledge of procurement and contractual procedures.
• Experience of management, execution of scheduled overhauls and required maintenance in accordance with the recommendations of the OEM.
• Experience of inventory management, supply chain and procurement activities.
• Must have proficiency with Computer knowledge such as Microsoft Office, Outlook, and CMMS/SAP.

Area of Responsibilities

Administrative

• Assist GM (Mechanical) in administering mechanical maintenance section in accordance with instructions and directives of the management, rules and regulations in practice.
• Keep close liaison with Operation, Performance & maintenance Departments to achieve targets.
• Assist GM (Mechanical)   for RIR recommendations and departmental KPIs.
• Maintains punctuality, discipline and confidence among the team members and ensure observance of the management rules.  
• Conducts employee performance reviews based on their overall performance, assigned responsibilities and contribution / value addition to the plant.

HSEQ

• Comply & implements corporate policies, administrative orders and OHSE rules while carrying out maintenance functions.
• Conducts refresher courses of Safety Rules and Permit-to-Work.
• Issues work permit(s) and ensures safety and housekeeping for Designated Non-Operational area.
• Conducts internal safety audits for improvement safe working environment.
• Ensures general safety and quality of risk assessment related to maintenance activities.
• Identifies and fills gaps for safety improvements of departmental staff.
• Ensure toolbox talk.
• Resolves and closes Internal/external audit observations.

Planning, Budgeting & Procurement

• Updates and implements maintenance plan in line with OEM recommendations, maintenance codes and standards.
• Works closely with Operations, E&I, Performance and Planning sections for smooth running of the matters related to O&M. Recommends avenues of auxiliary consumption and efficiency improvement.
• Plans, organizes and control activities of the section to meet performance targets, ensure maximum availability and reliability.
• Prepares annual budget for procurement of items & services and ensures effective consumption of budget.
• Ensure the availability of spares, consumables & tools in inventory management system; raises, evaluates and follow up procurement process for timely availability of spares and services.
• Monitors the raises warranty claims of defective parts.
• Monitors the request for non-stock items and their timely settlement.    
• Monitors the arrangement of timely Inspection of procured items.
• Monitors manpower utilization.

Execution of Maintenance Activities

• Executes schedule maintenance activities as per plan(s) to meet performance targets, ensure maximum availability and reliability of plant equipment.
• Manages timely testing and certification of tools and equipment in accordance with safety codes and procedures.
• Develops, maintains and periodically reviews the standardized procedures for plant maintenance as per OEM recommendations, site conditions and in compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Ensures implementation of updated version of procedures so that the maintenance be accomplished in safe- timely & cost-effective   manner.
• Manages and conduct periodic/scheduled overhauling and maintenance in accordance with the recommendations of the OEM.
• Prepares periodic reports, analyzes data, and prepare recommendations for improvement in plant operations and solution of maintenance-related problems.  
• Initiates and carry out projects that improve efficiency, reduce maintenance down time and/or operating costs.  
• Performs any task assigned by the plant management pertaining to the functions of the power plant.        
• Utilizes SAP PM Module & identifies areas of improvement.
• Ensures quality of PM/CM orders, open permits and their timely closure

Training & Development

• Trains team on work permit system, safety procedures, updated version of maintenance procedures, so that maintenance can be accomplished in safe, timely & cost-effective manner.
• Extends support, guidance and training to subordinates for technical and administrative development and in achieving their annual objectives.
• Implement Training plans for the newly hired team member.
• Nominates & ensures availability of staff for internal & external training
• Maintains records of latest revision of documents, modifications, reliability reports, incident reports for maintenance staff.

Proactive Analysis of Maintenance Reports

• Participates in Root Cause Analysis of all events to ensure plant’s availability and reliability.
• Works closely with Operation, maintenance teams and Performance to complete the actions against findings.
• Provide engineering expertise in RCA session.
