Purpose: This position is responsible for leading the Centralized Fire Safety Team of K-Electric and providing technical leadership and governance for the company’s fire safety function by developing, executing, and maintaining a unified Fire Safety Management Framework aligned with applicable legal and regulatory requirements, corporate objectives, and recognized fire safety standards. The role ensures the engineering integrity, compliance, and reliability of all fire detection, suppression, and emergency response systems; drives fire risk assessments and mitigation strategies; oversees incident investigations and continuous improvement; and strengthens organizational fire safety competency through standardized practices, system optimization, and effective resource stewardship
Job Role:
- Lead the fire safety strategy, aligning with corporate goals and national/international standards (e.g., BCP, NFPA, FPA), and ensure the fire section functions effectively across all operations
- Develop and implement a Fire Safety Governance Framework aligned with NEPRA PSC and corporate objectives.
- Design, review of fire protection systems, ensuring technical compliance, efficient performance, and integration with broader safety infrastructure.
- Act as focal point for NEPRA fire-safety-related audits and inspections.
- Escalate high-risk non-compliances that may result in regulatory penalties.
- Identify fire safety risks and system gaps, recommend mitigation strategies, and manage upgrades and special projects aligned with technological advancements.
- Review and enhance maintenance strategies, vendor evaluations, and installation plans, optimizing CM/PM schedules and ensuring system reliability.
- Review and approve fire detection and suppression system designs to ensure:
- Compliance with international standards (e.g., NFPA, FPA)
- Alignment with NEPRA-mandated Fire Safety requirements
- Protection of critical infrastructure w.r.t Fire Safety
- Lead incident investigations and root cause analyses, implement corrective actions, and establish frameworks for continuous improvement.
- Conduct root cause analysis and steward implementation of corrective/preventive measures.
- Evaluate vendor fire safety performance and contractor compliance with fire safety obligations
- Ensure fire emergency plans align with Business Continuity Planning and NEPRA’s service continuity expectations.
- Ensure fire drills are conducted as per frequency (grid stations, power plants, control centers).
- Standardize SOPs across business units using PDCA methodology.
- Ensure and steward development of emergency response procedures for all locations.
- Monitor emergency response effectiveness.
- Establish fire safety audit protocols aligned with applicable legal and regulatory requirements and fire safety standards.
- Identify and monitor active and passive fire safety arrangements across organization.
- Review risk trends and approve mitigation roadmaps.
- Develop and mentor fire safety teams, promoting expertise in fire protection design, risk management, and global safety standards.
- Approve budgets and prioritize strategic investments, ensuring sustainable planning and deployment of fire safety resources.
Education & Experience:
- Engineering Graduate (preferably Fire, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial or similar)
- 10 years of experience in Fire Safety (minimum 03 years in leading role)
- Power Utility, Plant, Industrial Experience preferred
Knowledge:
- Legal laws and acts related to fire, health & safety
- Strong grip and understanding of BCP Fire Safety Provision, NFPA and FPA
- Electrical Fire Safety
- NEBOSH IGC (preferred)
- NFPA 70-E
- International Fire Safety Certifications (preferably CFPS, CFI, or similar)
- ISO 45001 (preferred)
- Excel & PowerPoint
- Competent in Fire Safety Management Framework
