Purpose
This position is responsible to act as commercial lead and business partnering with Business Development, IPP and Strategy department for end-to-end commercial support in new and existing business projects. Major responsibilities include:
- Supervise and review the commercial evaluation of new power purchase opportunities including but not limited to assessment of project viability, discussions with regulatory agencies and authorities, finalization of project agreements and related negotiations
- Review of new power market regulations from the view-point of power purchaser
- Supervise the verification and submission of IPPs invoices to Regulatory department for onward submission to NEPRA and managing correspondences with IPPs with respect to PPA Contract Management / dispute resolution
- Supervise and review the commercial evaluation of new projects proposed by strategy department
- Supervise EMO compliance and engage with NEPRA team members to answer their queries raised on emo compliance and IPPs verification
This position involves frequent coordination between internal and external stake holders including IPPs, CPPA, NTDC, PPIB, NEPRA, Project developers, Bidders and Ministry of Energy for negotiation and resolution of any issues related to new projects and Existing IPPs.

Years of Experience
7–12 years of relevant experience, preferably in the power sector
Area of Responsibilities
1 BD Project Commercial Review (Thermal and Renewables)
- Supervise and review the financial viability of projects and finalize the commercial evaluation
- Supervise, review and finalize the transaction structure and project road map. Participate actively in the meetings with external and internal stake holders in order to ensure that the projects are completed as per the timelines
- Engage and negotiate along with BD team with regulatory agencies (PPIB, NTDC, NEPRA, CPPA, MoE) on project related matters for timely finalization.
- Ensure that the regulatory and commercial approvals are obtained and the transaction is carried out in accordance with the relevant regulatory requirements.
- Monitor and supervise the finalization of project agreements and documents such as RFPs, EPA, Fuel Supply Agreements, wheeling agreements etc. through engagement with Legal Counsel, Bidders and Project developers
2 Long Term Generation Planning
- Supervise and review finalization of KE long term planning for generation procurement for internal stake holders / Board
- Supervise and review of KE submissions for regulatory purposes including Integrated Generation Capacity Expansion Plan (IGCEP), Transmission System Expansion Plan (TSEP) , Power Acquisition Program (PAP) etc.
- Engage with NTDC, CPPA and other relevant external stake holders for clarifications and approvals on KE submissions
3 Existing IPP Management and EMO Compliance
- Supervise verification of IPPs monthly invoices in accordance with the NEPRA approved tariff determinations and PPA
- Supervise and ensure compliance with PPAs and NEPRA tariff requirements
- Monitor IPP issues and ensure resolution on timely basis through engagement with IPPs and NEPRA
- Engage with NEPRA with respect to their queries on IPP tariff and related issues.
- Ensure EMO related submissions for NEPRA and responses to NEPRA queries on EMO related matters.

Electricity Market Reforms
- Evaluate and Assess the impact of National Electricity reforms including CTBCM and update management on the Commercial implications of CTBCM implementation and KE Integration in central dispatch.
5 Process Improvement and System Automation
- Identify areas within the project controlling where automation can enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve overall performance.
- Ensuring compliance with company’s policies, procedures and signature mandate for better controls specially over financial reporting.
- Devising SOPs, reviewing and suggesting changes in current company policies/ mandates to meet the dynamic environment of the company.
- Suggesting and carrying out IT related automation projects to induce efficiency and effectiveness in processes.
6 People management and training
- Provides effective and inspiring leadership to direct reports; Ensures parity among subordinates with regards to learning and growth opportunities
- Identifies training requirements of the Staff; Contributes in performance management of direct reports; Manages development, career planning and engagement of subordinates in coordination with HR
- Delegates the responsibilities to direct reports; keeps the team emotionally aware, sensitive and open to accept changes for the greater good
- Handles administrative issues including recruitment, leaves, grievances and other issues; Provides guidance to the direct reports as and when required

Preferred Job Experiences
- Led commercial evaluations of large-scale power projects, including financial modeling and contract negotiations.
- Worked directly with regulatory agencies (NEPRA, CPPA, NTDC, MoE) on approvals, compliance, and dispute resolution.
- Managed end-to-end contract negotiations for Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), Fuel Supply Agreements, and EPC contracts.
- Supervised teams handling IPP contract management, invoice verifications, and compliance submissions.
- Contributed to long-term generation planning, including IGCEP, TSEP, and Power Acquisition Programs.
- Developed and executed bidding strategies for competitive procurement of power projects.
- Led stakeholder negotiations with investors, sponsors, and government entities.
- Implemented process improvements and automation in financial reporting, project monitoring, and regulatory submissions.
