Purpose

This position carries out day to day operations of HSE at Projects Department and contribute to the application of effective Health, Safety and Environmental management. The position overlooks a team of 2 members with the objectives to ensure compliance of HSE, identification and control of safety hazards, conducting safety drills and trainings within the limits of organizational policies and SOPs, departmental objectives, environmental policies, HSEQ standards, business code of conduct and directions/guidelines from supervisor. Position also plays important role in implementation of Process Safety Management System at Projects (Distribution)

Education

B.E/BS Electrical Engineering preferably in Utility Industry,

Safety Certifications NEBOSH, IOSH, ISO 45001

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Compliance of HSE:

Continually maintain an appropriate level of awareness knowledge and preparedness across the department to create a culture that prioritize effective HSE.

Analyze implementation level of HSE Processes and procedures across all departmental teams.

Track departmental HSE metrics and use data to identify areas of improvement and reduce risks.

Responsible for overseeing the environmental performance of the departmental projects for developing, implementing, and monitoring strategies that promote sustainable development.

Ensure that all project activities are following local and federal environmental regulations.

Conduct meetings with team’s safety coordinator to identify areas of improvement and recommend necessary preventive actions.

Carry out safety related activities as described in Safety Leader Award criteria.

Prepare Departmental Accident Prevention Plan and disseminate at all levels to ensure maximum achievability.

 

Identifying and Controlling Safety Hazards:

Prepare/Review risk assessments to ensure that they are up-to-date and change existing or develop new recommendations from theses assessments if not current or up to date.

Carry out sessions to disseminate Risk assessments with all field staff.

Carry out periodic Behavior based safety walks to ensure effective implementation of Risk Assessments.

 

Safety Training:

Prepare Safety Training Modules as per Project safety requirement considering company policies and procedures.

Act as lead trainer for all departmental trainings.

Participate in Monthly safety committee meetings and present departmental Projects HSE data.

 

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY CONTINUE

Audits and Investigations:

Investigate all Near Misses and accidents to avoid its reoccurrence.

Assist in all aspects of other incident investigations including management of implementation of preventive actions.

Plans and coordinates for all Safety Audits as per requirement of HSE and other external bodies.

Analyze trends in the audits & investigations and prepare/recommend action Plan accordingly.

 

Reporting:

Prepare relevant HSE logs and documentation pertaining to Projects.

Update database for monthly safety reporting of events and accidents received from Projects and ensure follow up till resolution.

Ensures necessary reporting frequency is maintained with all business/operational nodes.

 

PQC Management:

Conduct safety Parade of Pre-Qualified Contractors (PQC) to ensure effective PQC management system.

Ensure that all PPEs/SPEs used by PQC’s are as per Organization standards.

Perform spot checks on PQC’s sites to ensure that all safety protocols are followed in true spirit.

Maintain HSE performance of all PQC’s working with the department.

Recommend initiatives to improve PQC HSE performance.
