Purpose:

This position manages and overlooks the operations of Korangi Power Complex; determines and ensures safe, reliable and efficient practices during plant operations. Manages varying load demands as per fuel availability. Manages shift operations team; Assists in development of operational strategy for the operations sections and development of a capable team for smooth plant operations. 

Broad Responsibilities
:

  • To Assist Shift Manager to oversee daily plant operation and maintenance performed by the operation team whilst on shift in order to ensure that operational targets are achieved safely and within commercial, Environmental and contractual limits.
  • Development of the short and long term operational strategy for the plant and development of a capable operator team for smooth, reliable and efficient operation of the plant.
  • Assist Shift Manager to oversee day to day plant operation, safety and efficiency related issues, according to good utility practices, dispatch instructions, the company rules and procedures, OEM guidelines, environmental, contractual and other requirements.
  • Ensure that plant meet safety, availability, reliability, affectivity, generation and budget requirements.

Principle Responsibilities:

  1. Assist Shift Manager to train, direct and supervise plant personal and ensure in the shift sufficient number of qualified employees to safely operate the facility by developing and presenting technical training as required by plant operational staff and trainees.
  2. Understanding and adheres to plant safety guideline and procedures. Strive to maintain an injury free environment.
  3. Masters the plant emergency handling procedures and participates well in the plant training and qualifications. 
  4. Control the plant process of Gas Turbine, Boiler, and Steam Turbine, BOP, Fuel gas compressors, open and close cooling system, emergency diesel engine generator and GIS and electrical distribution through plant distribution control system (DCS) and other process control device.
  5. Assist Shift Manager in operation of Gas Turbine, Boiler, and Steam Turbine, BOP, Fuel gas compressors, open and close cooling system, emergency diesel engine generator and GIS for the shift he is working and makes correction to the process as necessary.
  6. To Study and discussed with Shift manager regarding system and become expert in gas turbine operation Boiler, Steam Turbine, BOP, Fuel gas compressors, open and close cooling system, emergency diesel engine generator and GIS, follow up on the manufacturing manual, develops and maintain procedures and serves as resource to others.
  7. Assist Shift Manager in isolation and preparation of equipment for safe work, issuance of work permits and to oversee all maintenance activities are carried out as per safety rules applicable to the plant.
  8. Assist in scheduling daily maintenance action, plant configuration changes and varying power plant generation levels.
  9. Identifying problems with plant equipment and clearly communicates the condition associated with these problems to plant maintenance teams.
  10. Organize all the operations historical record, work with historical software to collect all the required data prepared and monitor operation trend to monitor the plant performance in order to find any deficiencies and improve performance.
  11. Assist Shift manager to submit the necessary reports and recommendations to General Manager’s operations like plant tripping reports, system improvement reports, and plant generation loss reasons.

Education & Experience:

BE/BS Electrical, Mechanical, Electronics or Chemical
2-3 Years of relevant experience
