Purpose:

The purpose of the Assistant Manager Governance PMO is to support the implementation of the project governance framework within the organization, ensuring that projects are executed in compliance with established standards, policies, and regulatory requirements. The role involves monitoring project performance, facilitating compliance and audit activities, supporting change initiatives, and fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement across project teams.

 

Education & Relevant Experience:

4 years of bachelor’s degree in electrical / electronic engineering with 2 to 3 years of experience in PMO, project management, project coordination or project governance.

PMP certification would be advantageous.

 

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of project lifecycle methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid).
  • Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., MS Project, MS Planner, Power BI, etc).
  • Exceptional organizational, analytical, and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate effectively in cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and maintaining project governance frameworks, policies, and procedures.
  • Monitor project adherence to internal standards, regulatory requirements, and risk controls.
  • Support project audits and reviews by ensuring timely documentation and reporting.
  • Track project milestones, key performance indicators (KPIs), and deliverables across the portfolio.
  • Facilitate governance meetings, steering committee sessions, and stakeholder updates.
  • Maintain centralized project documentation and reporting dashboards.
  • Collaborate with project managers to identify, assess, and mitigate project risks.
  • Provide training and guidance on governance processes, tools, and templates.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the Project Management Office (PMO).

 

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

1. Governance Support & Execution

  • Support the Manager in implementing and maintaining the project governance framework across assigned projects.
  • Assist in monitoring project progress against established milestones, deliverables, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Prepare regular status reports on project health, highlighting risks, issues, and deviations from the plan.
  • Ensure project documentation is accurate, complete, and adheres to organizational standards and templates.
  • Act as a point of contact for project teams on governance processes, providing guidance and clarifications.

2. Compliance Monitoring & Reporting

  • Assist in conducting periodic reviews and checks to ensure project execution complies with SOPs, internal policies, and NEPRA standards.
  • Help maintain comprehensive documentation for all compliance-related activities, audits, and decisions.

3. Audit Support

  • Support the planning and execution of assigned audit projects under the guidance of the Manager.
  • Assist in evaluating business processes and internal controls to help identify potential gaps and risks.
  • Help track project expenditures, reporting any discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with PMO project managers, project execution managers, and other stakeholders to gather necessary data and evidence for audits.

4. Change Implementation Support

  • Support the Manager in the execution of change initiatives by communicating changes to project teams and assisting with the transition.
  • Help gather feedback from project teams and stakeholders on proposed changes and report findings to the Manager.
  • Assist in identifying weaknesses in existing processes through data collection and team feedback.
  • Facilitate meetings and training to implement new processes within project teams.

5. Team Coordination

  • Provide guidance to staff within the governance team.
  • Help foster a collaborative team environment and ensure seamless interaction among team members.

6. Safety & Procedural Adherence

  • Adherence to all safety procedures and policies.
  • Conducting regular MSAs to ensure safety SOPs and standards are being followed.
  • Making sure that safety formats are being maintained on sites and their regular submission to departmental safety coordinator.
  • Help ensure that all governance activities are conducted in line with company safety protocols and environmental policies.
