Purpose

This position is responsible to provide operational support to the Manager in Grid System Maintenance related operations WITH the purpose to ensure uninterrupted power supply by staying WITHIN the safety policies & procedures and departmental SOPs. This position also involves in execution and monitoring of new projects at Grids, carrying out technical evaluation of grid equipment being procured in accordance with KE standards.

Education

Graduation in Electrical Engineering from HEC recognized institute

Knowledge

• knowledge of EHT & HT network and associated Grid Components/Equipment of Hybrid, conventional, GIS and HIS Grids (Desirable)
• Good knowledge of predictive, corrective and periodic maintenance of Grid equipment
• Good knowledge of Safety policies/practices

Experience

 with atleast 01 to 03 years’ experience of working in in HT/EHT environment

Area of Responsibilities

1. Corrective & Breakdown Maintenance
PLANNED ACTIVITIES
• Maintain a record of Power and Auto transformer health index including DGA, moisture content, IFT etc.
• Inspect the EHV, HV and MV and LV equipment at grid stations in order to identify/determine replacement requirement due to ageing and communicate the action plan of replacement to the line manager
• Lead site execution work or delegate to Assistant Engineer by close monitoring, supervision and follow-up of the erection, testing, commissioning and refurbishment activities in accordance with internationally accepted standards, manufacturer’s recommendations and without any violation of safety SOP.
• Prepare preliminary commissioning report for onward submission and uploading on SAP PM through notification/work order.
UNPLANNED/EXIGENCY ISSUES
• Remain available in odd hours in order to tackle exigency situation (blackout, rains) at grid stations due to unforeseen tripping, respond to LDC’s phone calls, deploy maintenance staff for earliest resolution of breakdown and get mobilized to grid stations in case of faults of severe nature to assist maintenance team.
• Restore the affected equipment in minimum possible time (SAIDI) following all the safety rules and regulations and analyze the preliminary cause of tripping and communicate the findings to line manager
SAFETY COMPLIANCE
• Conduct tool-box-talk (TBT) and check all staff for PPE/SPE before activity
• Conduct Risk Assessment of activity & hazard mitigation by filling the standard format
• Ensure ISO compliance by recording all activities on approved documents and keep grid maintenance log - books updated

 

2. Execution of Annual Preventive Maintenance

• Ensure availability of calibrated testing equipment, PPEs, SPEs and SOPs and material required to effectively conduct APM shutdowns as per the approved schedule given by line manager and completion of all testing activities during APM within stipulated timeline following the standard testing procedures, implementation of KE quality standards and safety compliance( as mentioned under point 1)
• Record all APM activities and test results and ensure their uploading in SAP
• Resolve the bottlenecks and discrepancies identified or communicated by LDC/GSO.

3. Procurement and Inventory Management
• Assist the line manager in Identifying the requirement of new equipment and inventory by analyzing the stock position and coordination with other sections of GSM.
• Create new material codes (if required)
• Conduct technical scrutiny of offered bids and proposals as per KEs specifications in order to choose the most technically viable offer and to submit technical evaluation report to line manager
• To inspect the received goods/equipment at Central Stores and coordinate with IM to process DTN for material issuance.

4. Interdepartmental coordination & Revision of Technical Specification
• Coordinate with Transmission departments, Supply chain, HSE, Distribution, IT & etc. for smooth execution of ongoing activities or for requirement of necessary support to run the business of GSM. 
• Support internal & external Safety Coordinators for developing/revising HSE SOPs & providing safety suggestions for a safe & healthy working environment
• Coordinate with PID/Vendor for witnessing of Site & Factory Acceptance Test respectively.
• Under supervision of Line Manager, serves as member of Technical Specification team and review technical specification of Grid equipment. Also, study and adapt KE standards with international standards.
5. People Management
• Define clear objectives and establish the goals for reporting staff
• Provide opportunities for development to employees based on 3E Model (Experience, exposure, education)
• Provide regular feedback against assigned targets and assess performance accordingly
• Use coaching techniques to resolve employee issues as and when required
• Ensure KE values are depicted in departmental relationships and communications
