Job Purpose:

The position is responsible to perform the simulation studies by modelling HT & LT network on CYMDST simulation software and present the simulation results to the DGM Capacity Planning for further use in the power system studies. Further this position is also responsible to assist the DG Capacity Planning in the grid balancing schemes to cater new and organic load growth through existing capacity network expansion.

 

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

1 - Network Grid Optimization & Expansion

  • Mapping of existing network using the simulation tools and in coordination with GIS/AMI team for the purpose of capacity planning and load demand management.
  • Conduct simulation-based analysis to identify network optimization opportunities. These include but are not limited to load optimization through feeders / links, VCBs, RMUs, LBS, distribution transformers etc.
  • Align surveys for validation of desktop proposals and finalization of network optimization schemes.
  • Validate network optimization & expansion design through simulation.
  • Validate BOM prepared by surveyors for network improvement proposals.

 

2 - Network Reliability & Efficiency Improvement

  • Conduct power system studies to evaluate DER impact on KE Grid to validate network health.
  • Assist DGM Capacity planning in network modelling and conducting technical loss, protection coordination and short circuit analysis for network health assessment
  • Finalize scheme design and validate BOM prepared by surveyors.

 

3 - Material Planning

  • Assist DGM Capacity Planning in the preparation of consolidated BOM requirements in coordination with the Operations team to ensure efficient material planning.  

 

4 - Coordination & Reporting

  • Maintain log of modifications, enhancements, and improvements in network design
  • Develop dashboards for visibility of function KPIs.

 

Education & Relevant Experience: 

  • B.E (Electrical) with 2-5 years of experience 

 

Knowledge:

  •  Electrical engineering 
  • Load flow and simulation studies 
  • IEC / IEEE standards 
  • NEPRA CSM and distribution code
