Purpose:

The position will be responsible to work on the development works for the future renewables and hydel power projects. Its main responsibility will be to gauge their applicability for KE network, assisting organization to reach its long-term objective of becoming a low cost and reliable electricity producer.  The prime focus of the position is to

-    Carry out the project development activities of Renewable Energy and other associated technology initiatives.

-    Carry out the project development activities of hydel and other technology initiatives.

-    Evaluate new technologies and identify opportunities for their deployment.

-    Create rigorous business cases for their probable utilization.

-    Conduct market analysis to identify possibilities of new technology deployment. 

-    Actively engage with all stakeholders for commercialization of the selected technologies.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

1.    Renewable (Solar and Wind) Development

    •    Renewable Project Development: Lead in working with all the stakeholders including but not limited to government authorities, concession provider, regulator, consultants, contractors, OEM’s, lenders to assist KE secure cheaper and reliable power generation sources, benefitting its energy mix.

•    Review the evaluations of the technical proposal of renewable generation projects and review the development activities along with their milestones.

•    Provide technical support during development works like evaluation of feasibilities, EPC proposals, assist in technical aspects of the regulatory submissions or during the engagement with the lenders or other stakeholders.

•    Lead the technical due-diligence exercise and carry out site visits.

2.    Hydel Project Development

    •    Hydro Projects development: Lead in working with all the stakeholders including but not limited to government authorities, concession provider, regulator, consultants, contractors, OEM’s, lenders to assist KE secure cheaper and reliable power generation sources, benefitting its energy mix.

•    Review the evaluations of the technical proposal of hydel generation projects and review the development activities along with their milestones.

•    Provide technical support during development works like evaluation of feasibilities, EPC proposals, assist in technical aspects of the regulatory submissions or during the engagement with the lenders or other stakeholders.

•    Lead the technical due diligence of projects.

3.    Thermal Project Development

    •    Thermal Project Development: Assist in working with all the stakeholders including but not limited to government authorities, concession provider, regulator, consultants, contractors, OEM’s, lenders to assist KE secure cheaper and reliable power generation sources, benefitting its energy mix.

•    Review the evaluations of the technical proposal of thermal generation projects and review the development activities along with their milestones.

•    Provide technical support during development works like evaluation of feasibilities, EPC proposals, assist in technical aspects of the regulatory submissions or during the engagement with the lenders or other stakeholders.

•    Lead technical due diligence of the proposed projects.

4.    Technical Analysis

    •    Lead in carrying out the: (i) Technology comparison studies, (ii) pre-feasibility and tariff studies, (iii)assessment of different technologies and (iv) market studies in liaison with the financial and commercial teams.

•    Head the exercise to carry out the conceptual engineering design studies of power options of various technologies (Coal, gas turbines, engines etc.)

•    Review and provide key insights during the cost calculations of EPC, PM & O&M of the different power technologies available in the market.

•    Lead and review the formulation of concept proposals for clients/government to win different concessions/rights etc.

5.     Market Development and Project Development Activities

    •    Conduct market and country analyses which support project and market development initiatives.

•    Lead project development teams in evaluation of proposals, project development structuring and implementation, negotiating project agreements, and arranging project finance.

•    Lead the market development action plans to promote high renewable penetration.

•    Extensively work on the technical aspects for creation of ancillary markets, storage, wheeling option, deregulated bilateral/ BPC/corporate PPA, central dispatch scenario to create winning opportunities for KE.

•    Lead in power system analyses and business planning together with the technical modelling team and create market level value propositions, materials, and business proposals.

Education & Experience

•    BE (Electrical) + Masters (Technical Field, full time)/BBA/MBA

•    8 years or more of relevant experience of working on Renewables and new technologies.
